Today, Assemblyman Joe DeStefano (R,C,I,Ref-Medford) joined legislators and over 700 highway officials to call for increased funding to the Consolidated Local Street and Highway Improvement Program (CHIPS). At the rally, legislators and highway officials called for $150 million in funding. CHIPS ensures roads, bridges and highways are safe for everyone.

“I was proud to stand alongside our highway officials to bring attention to the needs of our state. It’s not just about the needs of New York City. Our highways, like the Long Island Expressway and Sunrise Highway, which run through my district, desperately need repairs,” said DeStefano. “We have a crumbling infrastructure that we need to address. The longer we take to address these issues, the more dangerous our roads will become and the higher the costs will be.”
