“The governor has spent several months writing a book, accepting Emmy Awards and lying to the people of New York. Today’s news is stunning; the reports say we were correct in that the numbers were underreported by at least 50%. Nursing home patients, their families and staff deserve better than this. New Yorkers deserve better than this. We need to hold the governor and his administration accountable. We cannot let the governor continue to place blame on the federal government when tragedies such as this are happening right here in New York. I am calling on the Legislature to remove the governor’s emergency powers.”
