Assemblyman Joe DeStefano (R,C,I-Medford) is pleased to join his Minority colleagues in support of a bill which would prohibit state agencies from mandating masks for anyone under 18 years old. The current seven-day positivity rate in New York state is 0.5% and on Long Island it is 0.4%.

“These arbitrary mask mandates have been nothing but chaotic and confusing, our children are suffering,” said DeStefano. “Now that the numbers are low and people are continuing to get vaccinated, it is time to rescind these mandates altogether. We cannot expect our kids to keep masks on for countless hours while adults do not have to. We must allow the parents to choose and our children to enjoy the summer.”
