Assembly Introduction
December 12, 2017
"I've also noticed that there is a really high number of undocumented people that are addicted in particular the park that is near my home, Knickerbocker Park. In the past six months, we've had three undocumented people die in that park of an overdose. And the reason why I'm asking is because that is a demographic that is extremely hard to get to because they are afraid that they are going to be sent back. What is the Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services(OASIS) doing for people who are undocumented that are drug addicted?" asked Assemblywoman Maritza Davila as she addressed Robert Kent the General Counsel of OASIS during the public hearing to examine the adequacy of funding for prevention, treatment, and recovery services within the State Fiscal Year (SFY) 2017-2018 Enacted Budget held by the Assembly Standing Committee on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse.
