Walsh Completes First Spring Cleaning Event with Successful Collection of Unneeded Medications

Assemblywoman Mary Beth Walsh (R,C-Ballston) partnered with the Saratoga County Sheriff's Office and Rexford Fire Department for a drug take-back event this past Saturday, April 8, the first of three recycling events in her annual spring cleaning series. The free event allowed residents of the 112th Assembly District to safely discard their unused, expired and excess medications.

“Over the course of the three-hour event there was a steady flow of cars lined up and, ultimately, we collected enough unneeded medication to fill a police SUV. Discarding your old medications–which will be sent to a DEA office to be destroyed–removes the threat of them getting ingested inadvertently by children and pets or hurting the environment if discarded in the wrong way.

“A big thank you to everyone who came to this event, and to the Saratoga County Sheriff's Office and Rexford Fire Department for their partnership. As the weather gets warmer and spring cleaning becomes top of mind, remember that there will be two more free spring-cleaning events held on the next two Saturdays, a shredding event and an electronic recycling event. I hope to see everyone there.” Walsh said.
