Walsh Hosts Drug Take-Back Event, Collects Multiple Boxes of Unneeded Medications and Sharps
Assemblywoman Mary Beth Walsh (R,C-Ballston) partnered with the Saratoga County Sheriff's Office and Town of Galway for a drug take-back event today. This is the first of three recycling events in her annual spring cleaning series. The free event allowed residents of the 112th Assembly District to safely dispose of their unused, expired and excess medications as well as sharps. These medications are all destined for the Drug Enforcement Administration office for proper disposal.
“Preventing unused medications from misuse hinges on events like this. The community’s strong turnout—evidenced by the five boxes of unneeded medications and multiple containers of sharps collected—underscores their commitment. Safely disposing of these outdated items directly reduces the dangers of accidental harm and keeps them out of the wrong hands.”
“Thank you to Captain Morley and Lieutenant Shields of the Saratoga County Sheriff's Office, Supervisor Arnold, and the Town of Galway DPW who all helped make today possible. Keep this event in mind for next year, when you start cleaning out those medicine cabinets again, and look out for my next two free spring-cleaning events: an electronic recycling event on Saturday, May 3rd, and a document shredding event on Saturday, May 17th. I hope to see everyone there.”
Walsh will be joined by EWASTE+ for an Electronic Recycling Event on Saturday, May 3, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the East Glenville Fire Department. The third and final spring-cleaning event will be held at Ballston Town Hall, where Walsh will be joined by Stone Secure Shredding for a Shredding Event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
