Fitzpatrick: Businesses Fleeing NY, START-UP NY Ineffective
A statement from Assemblyman Mike Fitzpatrick (R,C,I-Smithtown)
June 11, 2015
“The START-UP NY program instituted by Gov. Cuomo was supposed to create a rapid influx of potential jobs coming into New York State. On Long Island, however, we have seen an exodus of companies leaving for lower costs due to oppressive taxes and energy rates. The business climate in New York is one of the worst in the country. When jobs leave, residents leave to pursue them; this is why we are seeing so many families leaving Long Island. Long overdue mandate relief will help reduce the tax burden for over one million small businesses in New York and create more jobs while making the state more competitive and attractive.”
