Assemblymember Monica Wallace recently visited the Lt. Col. Matt Urban VFW Post 7275 in Lancaster to announce $29,550 in state funding from the Veterans’ Nonprofit Capital Program to build a new patio deck on the rear of the property. Assemblymember Wallace advocated for the Veterans’ Nonprofit Capital Program and joined her colleagues in approving that funding in the state budget, and her office worked with the Post to successfully apply for the grant funding. VFW members and supporters will use the patio for community events, such as their summer cruise nights.

“Veteran groups like the VFW Post 7275 give servicemembers a place to build social connections and enjoy themselves with fellow veterans,” said Assemblymember Wallace. “This new patio will help further the VFW’s mission of supporting our brave veterans. I’m glad I was able to help pass this funding for our community’s VFW post, and as always, I extend my deepest appreciation to all those who risked life and limb in defense of our nation.”

“Assemblymember Wallace has been a true champion for our VFW and secured significant funding over the years to help us maintain and improve our facility,” said Post 7275 Commander Jim Wier. “We look forward to the construction of the new patio, which will improve our summer programming and give members and visitors a space to enjoy the warm weather.”

Since taking office in 2017, Assemblymember Wallace has secured an additional $45,000 for VFW Post 7275, which has supported parking lot improvements, roof repairs, exterior painting, air conditioning, and more. She has also secured $45,000 for WNY Heroes, Inc. to support peer and female veterans programs as well as $25,000 for a new veterans park in Cheektowaga.
