Assemblymember Wallace to Sponsor Emergency Preparedness Training

This Saturday, December 9, 2017, Assemblymember Monica Wallace (D-Lancaster) will host a free American Red Cross Emergency Preparedness Training at 10am at the Cheektowaga Senior Center (3349 Broadway, Cheektowaga, NY 14227). All are welcome to attend and learn how to best be prepared during emergency situations.

“Western New Yorkers are no strangers to the devastation that can be caused by extreme weather events,” said Wallace. “Torrential flooding and severe snow storms have crippled our region before, and we know that they will again. While we can’t stop emergencies from happening, we can be prepared and ready to respond in efforts to mitigate the damages caused.”

The two-hour training will teach participants ways to prepare themselves and their homes, as well as how to respond to and recover from various types of natural and man-made disasters. The training will cover subjects of what to pack when evacuating, returning home from evacuations, managing utilities during emergencies, and preparing for insurance claims.
