Assemblymember Wallace Passes Emergency Funding to Combat Coronavirus
Last night, I helped pass $40 million in emergency funding to deal with the emerging novel coronavirus (COVID-19) threat because its crucial that we invest in the necessary resources we need to combat this evolving, serious public health issue (A.9953). This funding is essential to ensure that New York State can quickly acquire respirators, testing kids, and other crucial medical equipment and supplies, as well as hire and train additional health care workers in the event this virus spreads. This legislation also provides the executive branch with certain emergency powers to confront this threat. Im proud to have supported legislation that gives our government the tools it needs to protect New Yorkers. The safety of Western New York residents is always my top priority.
As this virus continues its global spread, area residents should take common sense precautions to limit their exposure to illness, including vigorous and frequent hand-washing, wiping surfaces with disinfectant, and avoiding unnecessary handshakes.
