Assemblymember Wallace on the Loss of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg
āIām saddened by the loss of United States Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a remarkable jurist and a powerful champion for women everywhere. She was a relentless civil rights litigator in the 1970s, contributing to countless gender discrimination cases and winning five out of six cases that she argued before the U.S. Supreme Court. As the second woman confirmed to the highest court in the United States, she has left her legacy on the Court and on our country. For nearly three decades she served the institution honorably and wisely, casting decisive rulings on landmark cases and issuing scathing dissents when she felt her colleagues had gone astray. She was a towering American icon of equality and civil rights, and an inspiration to generations of women who have gone into public service and law, including me in my legal career. Our nation has lost a tireless champion of equal rights and justice. The Notorious RBG will be deeply missed.ā
