Assembly Member Paula Elaine Kay Appointed to Environmental Conservation Committee
Rock Hill, NY – 100th Assembly District Member Paula Elaine Kay announced that she has been appointed to The Standing Committee for Environmental Conservation. Kay thanked Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie for this important appointment. She continues to serve on the Agriculture, Economic Development, Insurance, Racing and Wagering, and Veterans Committees.
Kay says, “The 100th district is one of the most beautiful and environmentally sensitive regions of the state. I’m proud to work toward continued preservation and sensible use of our resources.”
In the last session Kay cosponsored a bill to permit the use of crossbows, anywhere long bows are permitted for hunting. Kay is currently sponsoring legislation to provide free sporting licenses to veterans who are 100% disabled. She adds that she welcomes the Governor’s creation of 90 new positions in DEC to expedite permitting applications. Kay is also a cosponsor of the Sustainable Affordable Housing and Sprawl Prevention Act, and the Packaging Reduction and Recycling Infrastructure Act.
Kay represents the 100th Assembly District which is comprised of most of Sullivan County and the City of Middletown and the Town of Wallkill.
The NYS DEC’s mission is: “To conserve, improve and protect New York's natural resources and environment and to prevent, abate and control water, land and air pollution, in order to enhance the health, safety and welfare of the people of the state and their overall economic and social well-being." It has 9 regional offices and 24 divisions.
