Assemblyman Ramos Secures Critical Funding for Local Road Repairs
Assemblyman Phil Ramos (D-Brentwood) and Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter today announced that the Assemblyman has secured a $400,000 State and Municipal Facilities Program (SAM) Grant to make needed road repairs in Brentwood. Combined with Town resources, the grant will bring total funding for local infrastructure projects to $850,000.
The Assemblyman has again crossed jurisdictional lines to help town government attend to the needs of our community. “It’s not enough to just complain about our community being neglected by local governments. In the end I must be pragmatic regardless of who is responsible and do what I can to make it happen for our residents” said Assemblyman Ramos.
The project will include two new striped crosswalks at Hale St. and at Heyward St.; the creation of two new handicapped ramps; the installation of new reflective stripping throughout project; 12 new drainage structures to alleviate flooding issues; milling of deteriorated paving layers of asphalt off roadway, and a paving project spanning Suffolk Ave to Expressway Dr.
“Assemblyman Ramos and I are committed to improving the infrastructure in Brentwood. His tireless efforts to access state resources should be commended,” said Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter.
