Corning Marconi Lodge Honored By NYS Legislature For 100 Years Of Distinguished Service

State Senator Tom O’Mara (R,C-Big Flats) and Assemblyman Phil Palmesano (R,C,I-Corning) presented a resolution in the NYS Senate and Assembly honoring the Corning Marconi Lodge for their 100th Anniversary and their commitment to veterans and community service. During their May 25 celebration, Palmesano presented the lodge with the resolution.

“The Marconi Lodge has been an excellent steward of community and veterans service, not only to the Italian-American community, but also the Corning and nearby communities as a whole,” said O’Mara and Palmesano in a joint statement. “Throughout their 100-year history, the lodge has been involved in a wide variety of local community service endeavors ranging from sponsoring a local Boy Scout troop to hosting luncheons for our veterans at the Bath VA. It was an honor for us to bring this resolution before the legislature, and we look forward to another hundred years of their commitment to the area.”

The Corning Marconi Lodge was established on April 6, 1913 as the Sons of Italy Chapter, later becoming the Italian-American War Veterans. The lodge boasts a membership of approximately 200 to 250. Though they are a social club, they have been heavily involved in community and veterans service during their history. Their service includes organizing food bank donations, hosting veterans luncheons, sponsoring charity motorcycle rides and, in years past, sponsoring a local Boy Scout troop. The lodge still maintains a cabin built specifically for the Boy Scouts to use for camping activities, which lodge members actively participate in.
