Assemblyman Phil Palmesano (R,C,I-Corning) will be hosting a business group roundtable Wednesday with New York City State Assembly representatives so they can learn more about the value which Upstate New York and the Finger Lakes regions have to offer. Groups invited to participate in the event include a wide array of local business leaders, local government officials, economic development experts, education leaders, hospital administrators, tourism representatives and county Chambers of Commerce from across the 132nd Assembly District. The roundtable will take place tomorrow, Wednesday, August 21, 2013 from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Three Rivers Development Corp., Conference Room A, 114 Pine Street, Corning.

“With such a great divide between upstate and downstate cultures and economies, it is important for all our state representatives to understand how valuable each region of this state can be and what we have to offer,” said Palmesano. “This is a valuable opportunity to provide my New York City colleagues with useful information about our regional economy, the issues that upstate residents are experiencing and perhaps answer some questions about issues of common interest.

The assemblymen from New York City include Francisco P. Moya, Marcos A. Crespo, Robert J. Rodriguez and Edward C. Braunstein, who have been touring the 132nd Assembly District with their families since Monday with Assemblyman Palmesano. They have toured the Corning Inc. Diesel Plant, Gerber Family Dairy Farm in Addison, the Corning Museum of Glass, Watkins Glen International Race Track, in addition to area wineries including the Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s Governor’s Cup award winners.

“I appreciate my New York City colleagues visiting the Finger Lakes and their willingness to see firsthand what our communities are like,” Palmesano added. A group of upstate Assembly representatives plan to travel to New York City later this year as part of an exchange between legislators.

Also taking place on Wednesday, August 21 at 10 a.m., Assemblyman Palmesano has invited his colleagues from New York City to a roundtable discussion with his local Agriculture Advisory Committee, made up of a wide array of agriculture industry representatives including fruit, vegetable and potato growers, as well as livestock and dairy farmers, and Farm Bureau officials. The meeting will take place at the Three Rivers Development Corp., Conference Room A, 114 Pine Street, Corning.
