Assemblyman Robert Smullen (R,C-Mohawk Valley and the Adirondacks) was proud to see the Direct-To-Consumer Shipping Bill (A.3132-A/S.2852-A), which he co-sponsored, signed into law yesterday. This bill will allow New York state’s small craft manufacturers of spirits, cider and mead to ship directly to consumers both in and out of state.

“I am very excited to see this bill signed into law,” said Smullen. “So many of our small businesses and farms help New York state’s agricultural, beverage and tourism industries continue to grow and expand. Simplifying the process for smaller producers to be able to deliver products to a wide range of consumers statewide and beyond will carry significant benefits for our state. The passage of this bill will help create new employment opportunities, bring in more tourists, generate economic growth and improve rural equity in struggling upstate regions of our state.

“Our local farms and small manufacturers face many challenges in their mission to grow and produce great quality, fairly-priced products for New York communities. To ensure they can continue to do what they do best for generations to come, we must pass more initiatives like this one.”
