Smullen Presents Canajoharie High School Senior Aiden Bowerman With Alexander John Smullen Memorial Scholarship
Assemblyman Robert Smullen (R,C-Mohawk Valley and the Adirondacks) was proud to award Canajoharie High School senior Aiden Bowerman with this year’s Alexander John Smullen Memorial Scholarship, named in honor of Smullen’s late son AJ. AJ’s dream was to pursue an outdoor career, and each year, this scholarship awards $5,000 to one deserving student who shares that same dream.
Aiden is ranked sixth in his graduating class, is a proud member of the National Honor Society and is described by his teachers and peers as a driven, hardworking and selfless individual who is committed to helping others. Aiden has dedicated hundreds of volunteer hours serving with the Ames Fire Department and plans to attend SUNY Cobleskill for Emergency Medical Services training to become a professional firefighter.
“Congratulations and best of luck to Aiden in his pursuit of such an admirable field,” said Smullen. “The Alexander John Smullen Memorial Scholarship is designed to help deserving students pursue an outdoor career, but it is also aimed at helping aspiring young leaders in our communities reach their goals. Aiden is a courageous, accomplished young man, and his dream to help save lives is truly inspiring. I am proud to award Aiden with this scholarship—he has a very bright future ahead of him.”
