Goodwill of the Finger Lakes Announces New Irondequoit Store with Support from New York State Leaders

Funding from Senator Samra Brouk and Assemblywoman Sarah Clark for construction of a new Goodwill location will expand Goodwill’s regional footprint serving Irondequoit and surrounding areas.

Irondequoit/Rochester, NY – Goodwill of the Finger Lakes today announced plans to open a new retail location at Skyview on the Ridge in Irondequoit, marking a major investment in local job creation, economic development, and community enrichment.

This project is made possible through the support of New York State Senator Samra Brouk (55th District) and New York State Assemblywoman Sarah Clark (136th District), who have together secured $1.3 million in state funding for the initiative. Senator Brouk has committed $1 million from the New York State Community Investment Fund, while Assemblymember Clark has contributed $300,000 in additional funding to help bring the project to life.

Located within the former Irondequoit Mall, the new Goodwill store will occupy approximately 25,000 square feet, including both a retail floor and back-of-house operations. With inventory refreshed daily, shoppers can expect a wide selection of gently used apparel, shoes, and accessories, along with home décor, housewares, and a curated assortment of new and seasonal goods. The store is projected to create 45 new jobs and generate millions in tax revenue for the Town of Irondequoit. Construction is scheduled to begin in early 2026, pending completion of final contract processes with the State and all relevant parties.

All proceeds from Goodwill store sales are reinvested directly into the community, supporting critical programs and services such as Goodwill Vision Services (formerly ABVI), 211/LIFE LINE, the Goodwill Learning Academy, 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, workforce development, sustainability initiatives, and the Good Neighbor Program.

New York State Senator Samra Brouk:

“Goodwill is more than just a store–it’s a lifeline to our underserved residents. I was proud to secure $1 million in funding to open a new retail location at Skyview on the Ridge–a space that is becoming an accessible hub for our community members. With a new Goodwill store, we are supporting meaningful employment opportunities, and with sales being reinvested into the community, we are helping connect our community members with life-saving mental health resources like the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline and 211/LIFE LINE.”

New York State Assemblywoman Sarah Clark:

“Today’s announcement marks the start of an exciting new chapter, not just for Goodwill, but for our entire community. This new 25,000 square foot facility will provide jobs, opportunities, and joy for people all across Rochester and I could not be more proud to have played a role in this process by securing $300,000 for the build out. Thank you to Goodwill of the Finger Lakes for your tireless work to better the lives of so many in our community.”

Jennifer Lake, President & CEO of Goodwill of the Finger Lakes:

“We’re deeply grateful to Senator Brouk and Assemblywoman Clark for their generous support in helping bring this project to life,” said Jennifer Lake, President & CEO of Goodwill of the Finger Lakes. “We have always wanted to bring a Goodwill store to Irondequoit, and this location presented the perfect opportunity to create jobs, strengthen community programs, and keep quality goods in circulation. Just as our shoppers and donors give items and the individuals we serve a second life, we’re honored to breathe new life into this unoccupied space. Each new store opening helps us expand job opportunities and generate critical funding for our mission impact programs, which serve as a vital bridge for vulnerable populations across Irondequoit and the greater Finger Lakes region.”

Goodwill of the Finger Lakes’ mission is elevating people, community, and planet for a good today and better tomorrow. This new location represents another step toward that mission—building stronger communities through opportunity, sustainability, and inclusion.
