Assemblyman Magnarelli Awards $8,250 to Syracuse Northeast Community Center

Assemblyman Bill Magnarelli (120th District) presented an $8,250 check to the Syracuse Northeast Community Center at the Center’s April board meeting.

"The Northeast Community Center is a wonderful community resource," Magnarelli said. "In addition to giving kids a place to go after school, the Center also serves as a safe, comfortable place to hold neighborhood watch meetings, senior meals, and youth and community oriented events."

The Syracuse Northeast Community Center operates after-school, teen/youth, and senior programs in a low-income area of Syracuse. The Center is connected to Dr. Edwin Weeks School and houses meeting rooms, athletic facilities and a library. The Center will use the funding secured through Magnarelli for new computer and office equipment. Any left over money will be spent on kitchen equipment used to serve meals to seniors. The funding comes from a legislative grant secured by Magnarelli that will be administered through the New York State Office of Children and Family Services.

"I remain committed to providing the resources our community’s agencies need to effectively serve the people of Syracuse," Magnarelli concluded. "I look forward to continuing to work with local agencies to help provide the services working families, low-income families, and seniors depend on."
