Magnarelli: Low-Cost Power Will Help Local Business Retain Over 200 Jobs

Assemblyman Bill Magnarelli (D–Syracuse/Geddes/Van Buren) announced today that Hanford Pharmaceutical Business Office will receive 750 kilowatts in low-cost power under New York’s Power for Jobs program, helping to save or create 210 jobs.

“High utility costs have precluded small businesses from expanding, and in some cases forced them out of our community and state,” Magnarelli said. “Low-cost power helps businesses keep costs down, remain competitive and keep good-paying local jobs.”

The Power for Jobs program offers low-cost power to businesses and not-for-profit corporations that pledge to create and retain local jobs. Power is allocated through the New York State Economic Development Power Allocation Board.

“This will bring some relief to a local company amid tough economic times,” Magnarelli said. “Power for Jobs helps businesses like Hanford Pharmaceutical Business Office keep New York working.”
