Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays And Best Wishes For A Safe, Healthy And Prosperous New Year
Legislative column from Assembly Minority Leader Brian M. Kolb (R,C,I-Canandaigua)

I would like to take this opportunity to offer everyone heartfelt wishes for a most enjoyable holiday season. I'd also like to personally thank the residents of the 129th Assembly District who I've had the distinct honor and privilege of serving for the last 12 years. My District Office staff and I stand ready, willing and able to serve the 131st District in the coming year and will be pleased to answer any questions or concerns you may have. Please feel free to contact us for any reason at (315) 781-2030 or at kolbb@assembly.state.ny.us.

A REVIEW OF 2012

This past year has produced many accomplishments, including the recent stopping of the proposed New York State Thruway Authority 45% toll hike for trucks, which would have seriously impacted our families and small businesses. As the first Legislative Leader to speak out against this costly burden, I am proud to say our collective voices were heard. My "Thruway Authority Accountability Act" would restore accountability to the Thruway Authority and introduce permanent solutions to reform a broken system.

MY THANKS TO OUR MANY READERS FOR THE CONTINUED OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE YOU

As I travel the district, I am pleased to hear from the many people who read my weekly columns and I offer my earnest gratitude to my readers and all the newspapers and websites that publish them. It is my honor to keep you informed and up to date on your State government. Your interest and responses are insightful, engaging and truly make me a better legislator.

I take my responsibilities as your Assemblyman - and as one of only four Legislative Leaders - with great importance and am dedicated to enhancing the lives of the citizens I represent. The beauty of the Finger Lakes region, especially during the holiday season, feels magical and I consider myself very blessed to live here and to serve my constituents who are also my neighbors, family and friends.

REMEMBER THE "REASON FOR THE SEASON"

In closing, whatever your beliefs, whatever your expression of faith or spirituality, I ask that you try to do one simple thing during the holidays. In between all the hustle and bustle, the presents and catching up with old friends, find a quiet moment to reflect on the true reason for the season - and then do your very best to relive this holiday spirit every day.

"Glory to God in the Highest,
And on Earth,
Peace, good will toward men."

On behalf of our entire family - my wife Lauren, our sons Britton and Clayton, our daughter Kylie and our grandson Everett - our very best to you and all your loved ones for a very Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and many wishes for a safe, healthy and prosperous New Year!
