Statement From New York State Assembly Minority Leader Brian M. Kolb (R,C,I-Canandaigua) On Proposed Acceleration Of Minimum Wage Increase

"The Assembly Speaker's position ignores existing state law that ties New York's minimum wage to the federal standard, and disregards legislation passed less than a year ago. If the Assembly Majority wants a "do-over" on bills from 2013, we ought to start with the SAFE Act and move forward.

Accelerating the minimum-wage increase hurts job creation and stifles business growth. Speeding up the rate hike will result in fewer entry-level jobs in the marketplace at a time when we desperately need more employment opportunities and an improved business environment.

New York's minimum wage will increase in two days. Only in Albany will someone ask for a second raise before they've even gotten the first."
