Regents Re-Elections Undermine The Needs Of New York's Students And Parents
'The Assembly Majority Has Endorsed the People and Process Responsible for the Worst Education Policy Implementation in Decades'

"The needs of children, parents and teachers were undermined by party politics today. By re-electing incumbent Regents, the Assembly Majority has endorsed the people and process responsible for the worst education policy implementation in decades - the Common Core testing standards.

If we learned anything about New York's educational system over the past year, it's that we need dramatic change and that developing policy needs to involve input from more stakeholders. Apparently, those lessons were lost on the members of the Assembly Majority.

A single political party should not control the entire policymaking agenda for New York's education system. The method by which the state's Board of Regents is selected is outdated, dysfunctional and totally unbalanced."
