New York State Assembly Minority Leader Brian M. Kolb (R,C-Canandaigua) (far left), Sen. Rich Funke (back center) and Sen. Michael Nozzolio joined Courtney Wagner (middle), family and friends to celebrate her birthday at Canandaigua Academy. Courtney is a young woman who has inspired her community with her strength and courage as she battles brain cancer, and with the help of her neighbors and a few celebrities, her story is being shared.

A few weeks ago the hashtag #GetCourtneyToEllen started circulating online. Celebrities like soccer star Abby Wambach, ex-Buffalo Bills Quarterback Jim Kelly and Saturday Night Live's Jay Pharoah shared the hashtag as an initiative for Wagner to appear on NBC's Ellen DeGeneres show. With the tremendous effort from the community, family and friends, Courtney was a guest on the Ellen DeGeneres show. Leader Kolb is proud to see a community work together toward a wonderful goal.
