Tomorrow is Small Business Saturday, a day designed for our communities' shops and stores to showcase all they offer and for consumers to support them with an extra effort to shop local. Small businesses are the backbone of New York- they drive an enormous portion of economic activity, create much-needed jobs and provide the goods and services we need day-in and day-out.
More than half of all employees in New York work for a small business, which comprise the majority of all businesses in the state. They are a major part of the fabric of New York, and their continued success benefits us all. Each dollar we spend at our community establishments has an exponential economic impact on the local economy.
By taking extra care to patronize local businesses this weekend, we accomplish much; we financially support our neighbors, show our appreciation for all their hard work and dedication and cultivate a vibrant state economy. With the holidays right around the corner, Small Business Saturday offers a great chance to check some names off your shopping list while helping strengthen New York.
SUPPORT SMALL BUSINESSES IN THE FINGER LAKES REGION
In addition to world-class wineries, cideries and breweries, the Finger Lakes Region is home to all sorts of quaint, unique establishments. The farms, restaurants, shops and other various places in the area offer a one-of-a-kind experience you cannot get anywhere else in New York.
The men and women who own and operate the Finger Lakes' small businesses have shown an incredible dedication to their crafts and, in many cases, are leading the charge in their respective industries despite one of the worst tax and regulatory climates in the nation. With their continued efforts and the support of locals and visitors alike, the region will continue to thrive. When our communities thrive, our state thrives. The success of our small businesses is a win-win-win for consumers, owners and the residents of New York.
