Assembly Hails $21.9 Billion For New York's Schools, Including $376 Million For Pre-K

Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, Assembly Ways and Means Chair Herman D. Farrell, Jr., and Assembly Corrections Chair Jeffrion Aubry announced today that SFY 2009-2010 budget rejects an Executive proposal that would have delayed the implementation of the Special Housing Unit Exclusion law that protects seriously mentally ill inmates from being placed in solitary confinement and instead requires that appropriate mental health treatment be provided.
