TITLE OF BILL: An act to establish the general aviation task force to study measures that may be implemented to improve general aviation operations in the state of New York   PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: Establishes the general aviation task force to study measures that may be implemented to improve general aviation operations in the state of New York.   SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1 establishes the general aviation task force to conduct a study on measures that may improve general aviation in the state of New York. Section 2 specifies the composition of the task force, the compensation of its members, and its powers. Section 3 establishes how the task force shall report its findings. Section 4 specifies the effective date,   JUSTIFICATION: Aviation can be a great tool to improve tourism and the economy across New York State, especially for the North Country and upstate economies. General aviation aircraft can increase accessibility to the less-trav- eled areas of our state. This would allow more people to explore the more remote treasures throughout in our state, creating new economic opportunities. This bill would create a taskforce to study how the State could better leverage general aviation to improve intrastate tourism and increase travel and commercial exchange between the different regions in New York.   PRIOR LEGISLATIVE HISTORY: 1/28/21 referred to governmental operations 1/05/22 referred to governmental operations 1/13/2023 - Referred to governmental operations 1/03/2024 - Referred to governmental operations   FISCAL IMPLICATIONS FOR STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENTS: To be determined   EFFECTIVE DATE: Effective immediately
