        AN ACT to amend the mental hygiene law, in relation to requiring suicide
          prevention hotline centers to meet certain requirements  for  individ-
          uals who are in the perinatal period

          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. Paragraph 7 of subdivision (c)  of  section  36.03  of  the
     2  mental  hygiene  law,  as added by section 2 of part EE of chapter 57 of
     3  the laws of 2022, is amended to read as follows:
     4    (7) A designated hotline center shall meet the requirements set  forth
     5  by  New  York  State  and the NSPL for serving high risk and specialized
     6  populations including but  not  limited  to:  Black,  African  American,
     7  Hispanic,  Latino,  Asian,  Pacific  Islander,  Native American, Alaskan
     8  Native; lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, nonbinary, queer, and ques-
     9  tioning individuals; veterans; members of rural communities; individuals
    10  with intellectual and developmental disabilities; individuals experienc-
    11  ing homelessness or housing instability; individuals who  are  currently
    12  in  the  perinatal  period; immigrants and refugees; children and youth;
    13  older adults; and religious communities as  identified  by  the  federal
    14  Substance  Abuse  and  Mental  Health Services Administration, including
    15  training requirements and  policies  for  providing  linguistically  and
    16  culturally competent care.
    17    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
