AN ACT authorizing certain former full-time police officers to take the
competitive civil service examination for the position of police offi-
cer for the city of New York
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of section 58 of the civil
2 service law, section 14-109 of the administrative code of the city of
3 New York, or any other law to the contrary, any former full-time police
4 officer for the city of New York born between January 1, 1985 and Janu-
5 ary 1, 1990, shall be eligible to take the competitive civil service
6 examination for the position of police officer and shall, contingent
7 upon their score on such examination, be eligible to be placed on the
8 eligible list for appointment as a full-time police officer for the city
9 of New York.
10 § 2. Any such former full-time police officer eligible pursuant to
11 this act shall otherwise be subject to the merit and fitness provisions
12 of the civil service law and the administrative code of the city of New
13 York applicable to full-time police officers.
14 § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
