AN ACT to amend the public lands law, in relation to the sale of state
lands to municipal corporations
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. Section 33 of the public lands law is amended by adding a
2 new subdivision 6 to read as follows:
3 6. (a) Notwithstanding any provision of this section to the contrary,
4 the commissioner of general services may sell, transfer or lease to or
5 exchange with any municipal corporation, school district, board of coop-
6 erative educational services, or fire district, either without consider-
7 ation or for such consideration and upon such terms and conditions as
8 shall be approved by such commissioner, any unappropriated state lands
9 without public auction or sealed bids; and any municipal corporation or
10 fire district may acquire or lease such real property as provided in
11 this section. The term of any lease entered into pursuant to the
12 provisions of this section shall not exceed ten years but nothing herein
13 contained shall prevent the renewal of any such lease.
14 (b) The provisions of this section shall not apply to any real proper-
15 ty which is made inalienable under the provisions of any general,
16 special or local law or of any charter.
17 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
