        AN ACT to amend the public health law, in relation to domestic  violence
          training for health and mental health professionals
 
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. Section 206 of the public health law is amended by adding a
     2  new subdivision 33 to read as follows:
     3    33. (a) The commissioner shall promulgate rules and regulations  which
     4  shall  ensure  that  trainings on providing care for victims of domestic
     5  violence are developed and delivered to health and mental health profes-
     6  sionals. Such trainings  shall  be  reviewed  and  updated  annually  in
     7  consultation  with  the  office for the prevention of domestic violence.
     8  Such trainings shall include instruction that health and  mental  health
     9  professionals  are  not  subject to mandatory reporting for instances of
    10  domestic violence against adults.
    11    (b) The commissioner shall convene a task force responsible for ensur-
    12  ing that all health and mental health professionals in the state receive
    13  the trainings under paragraph (a)  of  this  subdivision  on  an  annual
    14  basis.  Such  task force shall collect data on the participation of such
    15  trainings by health and mental health professionals in the state.
    16    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
