       Introduced  by Sen. GRISANTI -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
         printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation

       AN ACT in relation to discontinuing the collection of certain  tolls  at
         the  Grand Island bridges in the Niagara section of the New York state
         thruway

         THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

    1    Section 1. Notwithstanding any contrary provision of law, the New York
    2  State thruway authority shall remove the toll barrier at the South Grand
    3  Island  bridge  in  the Niagara section of the Governor Thomas E.  Dewey
    4  Thruway, as such section is described in subdivision 8 of section 356 of
    5  the public authorities law;  provided,  however  that  the  toll  amount
    6  collected  at  the barrier of the North Grand Island bridge shall not be
    7  increased.
    8    S 2. This act shall take effect on the ninetieth day  after  it  shall
    9  have become a law.
