TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend chapter 890 of the laws of 1982, relating to the estab-
lishment of certain water charges for hospitals and charities in New
York city, in relation to the effectiveness thereof
 
PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL:
This legislation limits water charges for hospitals and charitable
organizations.
 
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
This bill amends Chapter 890 of the Laws of 1982 to extend its expira-
tion date until September 1, 2026. This legislation would continue
reduced water rates. for hospitals and charitable institutions in New
York City.
 
JUSTIFICATION:
This legislation would extend for two years a long-standing reduction in
water charges offered to hospitals and other charitable organizations in
New York City. The continuation of the exemptions would help to ease
some of the financial burdens on these important institutions.

AN ACT to amend chapter 890 of the laws of 1982, relating to the estab-
lishment of certain water charges for hospitals and charities in New
York city, in relation to the effectiveness thereof
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. Section 2 of chapter 890 of the laws of 1982, relating to
2 the establishment of certain water charges for hospitals and charities
3 in New York city, as amended by chapter 430 of the laws of 2022, is
4 amended to read as follows:
5 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately and shall remain in full
6 force and effect only until September 1, [2024] 2026.
7 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
