  TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the highway law, in relation to desig- nating a portion of the state highway system as the "Adirondack Coast Wine Trail"   PURPOSE: Designates a portion of the state highway system as the "Adirondack Coast Wine Trail"   SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1- Amends section 343-k of the highway law to include the "Adirondack Coast Wine Trail" Section 2- Amends section 343-k of the highway law to designate portion of the highway in Clinton county as the "Adirondack Coast Wine Trail" Section 3- Contains the effective date.   JUSTIFICATION: There has been a great interest in establishing wineries and vineyards in the North Country. This effort has been spearheaded by a group of owners and operators of wineries in the region that look to other areas of the state that have seen success in creating a wine trail for tourism and industry promotion.   LEGISLATIVE HISTORY: 2011 S. 7656-A Passed Senate ; A. 10658-A Referred to Transportation   FISCAL IMPLICATIONS: None to the State   EFFECTIVE DATE: This act shall take effect immediately

        AN ACT to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a portion of
          the state highway system as the "Adirondack Coast Wine Trail"
 
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. The section heading of section 343-k of the highway law, as
     2  amended  by  chapter  215  of  the  laws  of 2007, is amended to read as
     3  follows:
     4    Portions of the state highway system to be designated as the "Chautau-
     5  qua Wine Trail", the "Canandaigua Wine Trail", the  "Cayuga  Wine  Trail
     6  East",  the "Cayuga Wine Trail West", the "Seneca Lake Wine Trail East",
     7  the "Seneca Lake Wine Trail West", the  "Keuka  Lake  Wine  Trail",  the
     8  "Shawangunk Wine Trail", the "Dutchess Wine Trail", the "North Fork Wine

     9  Trail",  the  "Hamptons  Wine Trail", the "Long Island Wine Region", the
    10  "Niagara Escarpment Wine Trail", the "Niagara  Wine  Trail"  [and],  the
    11  "Lake Ontario Wine Trail" and the "Adirondack Coast Wine Trail".
    12    §  2.  Section  343-k of the highway law, as amended by chapter 143 of
    13  the laws of 2001, is amended by adding a new subdivision 9  to  read  as
    14  follows:
    15    9. All that portion of the state highway system starting at exit 35 of
    16  interstate  route  87  in  the town of Peru and continuing west on state
    17  route 442 to its intersection with state route  22,  and  continuing  on
    18  state  route 22 to its intersection with state route 22B, and continuing
    19  north on state route 22B to its intersection with state route 3  in  the

    20  town  of Plattsburgh, and continuing east on state route 3 to its inter-
 
         EXPLANATION--Matter in italics (underscored) is new; matter in brackets
                              [ ] is old law to be omitted.

     1  section with state route 190, and continuing north on state route 190 to
     2  its intersection with state route 374, and continuing easterly on  state
     3  route 374 to its intersection with state route 22 in the town of Platts-
     4  burgh,  and  continuing  northerly on state route 22 to its intersection
     5  with U.S. route 11 in the town of Mooers,  and  continuing  easterly  on

     6  U.S. route 11 to its intersection with U.S. route 9 in the town of Cham-
     7  plain, and continuing southerly on U.S. route 9 to its intersection with
     8  state  route  3  in  the city of Plattsburgh, and continuing westerly on
     9  state route 3 to exit 37 of interstate route 87 in the town  of  Platts-
    10  burgh  shall  be  designated  and  known  as  the "Adirondack Coast Wine
    11  Trail".
    12    § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
