MEMORANDUM IN SUPPORT OF LEGISLATION

BILL NUMBER: A7168

  TITLE OF BILL: An act in relation to placing the area two hundred fifty feet south of the Riegelmann boardwalk under the jurisdiction of the New York city department of parks and recreation   PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: To remove the area two hundred and fifty feet south of the Riegelmann boardwalk from the purview of DEC and place it under the jurisdiction of New York City parks and recreation.   SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS: Section 1 places the area between the Riegelmann boardwalk, stretching from West 37th Street in Coney Island to Brighton 15th Street in Brighton Beach under the jurisdiction of the NYC department of parks and recreation. Section 2 provides for an immediate effective date.   JUSTIFICATION: Places the area under the jurisdiction of the New York City parks and recreation department   PRIOR LEGISLATIVE HISTORY: New Bill   FISCAL IMPLICATIONS: None   EFFECTIVE DATE:This act shall take effect immediately

        AN ACT in relation to placing the area two hundred fifty feet  south  of
          the  Riegelmann  boardwalk under the jurisdiction of the New York city
          department of parks and recreation
 

          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section  1.  Notwithstanding any other provision of law, rule or regu-
     2  lation to the contrary, the area between the  Riegelmann  boardwalk  and
     3  two  hundred  fifty  feet  south of the Riegelmann boardwalk, stretching
     4  from West 37th Street in Coney Island to Brighton 15th Street in  Brigh-
     5  ton  Beach, shall be under the jurisdiction of the New York city depart-
     6  ment of parks and recreation.
     7    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
