PEOPLES-STOKES -- read once and referred to the Committee on Education AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to authorizing the board of education of the Buffalo school district to require pre-kindergar- ten for minors four years of age The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Subdivision 2 of section 3205 of the education law is 2 amended by adding a new paragraph d to read as follows: 3 d. The board of education of the Buffalo school district is hereby 4 authorized to require minors who are four years of age on or before 5 December first to attend pre-kindergarten instruction. However the 6 provisions of this paragraph shall not apply to: 7 (i) Minors whose parents elect not to enroll their children in school 8 until the following September. 9 (ii) Students enrolled in non-public schools or home instruction. 10 § 2. This act shall take effect the first of July next succeeding the 11 date on which it shall have become a law.
