Senate Resolution No. 1269

        CONGRATULATING  Edward "Jay Donovan" Kreutter upon
        the occasion of his retirement after nearly 50 years
        of   distinguished   service   to   the   field   of
        broadcasting
 
  WHEREAS,  It is the sense of this Legislative Body, that the quality
and character of life in this great Empire State is  indelibly  enriched
by  the  faithful  and  untiring  efforts  of those individuals who have
helped shape the history of broadcasting; and
 
  WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and  in  full  accord  with  its
long-standing  traditions,  this  Legislative  Body  is  justly proud to
congratulate Edward "Jay Donovan" Kreutter  upon  the  occasion  of  his
retirement  after  nearly 50 years of distinguished service to the field
of broadcasting; and
 
  WHEREAS, On February 9, 1974, Edward "Jay  Donovan"  Kreutter  began
his long career in radio in Geneva, New York; and
 
  WHEREAS,  In  the  mid-1970s, Edward "Jay Donovan" Kreutter moved to
WNDR in Syracuse, New York, and in January  of  1979,  he  relocated  to
Watertown,  New  York,  where  he  was  the  morning  host  and  11 p.m.
meteorologist for WWNY; and
 
  WHEREAS, In March of 1985, Edward "Jay Donovan"  Kreutter  moved  to
Charleston,  South  Carolina,  where  he did morning radio for about two
years; and
 
  WHEREAS, Edward "Jay Donovan"  Kreutter  returned  to  Watertown  in
1987,  and became the evening meteorologist for WWNY-TV, and did morning
radio for WTNY-AM, followed by WCIZ-FM, where he served for the next  30
years; and
 
  WHEREAS,  After  an  extraordinary  career which spanned almost five
decades, Edward "Jay Donovan"  Kreutter  truly  earned  the  admiration,
esteem and affection of his colleagues; and
 
  WHEREAS, Edward "Jay Donovan" Kreutter has served his community with
integrity  and  devotion, continuously striving to meet the needs of his
listeners through entertainment and enlightenment; and
 
  WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
those illustrious broadcasters who  have  diligently  and  consistently,
year  after  year, recorded the history of their communities and brought
local news and news  of  the  larger  world  to  their  listeners;  now,
therefore, be it
 
  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend  Edward  "Jay  Donovan"  Kreutter  upon  the  occasion  of   his
retirement,  and to wish him well in all his future endeavors; and be it
further
 
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to Edward "Jay Donovan" Kreutter.
