AN ACT to allow Brian Laurange Jr. to be eligible to take the civil
service exam for the position of deputy sheriff for the Columbia Coun-
ty Sheriff's Office
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of section 58 of the civil
2 service law or any other provision of law to the contrary, Brian
3 Laurange Jr., who has been continuously employed by the county of Colum-
4 bia, as a part-time corrections officer, shall be eligible to take the
5 competitive civil service examination for the position of deputy sheriff
6 and shall, contingent upon his score on such examination, be eligible to
7 be placed on the eligible list for appointment as a full-time deputy
8 sheriff for the Columbia County Sheriff's Office.
9 § 2. Brian Laurange Jr. shall otherwise be subject to the merit and
10 fitness provisions of the civil service law applicable to full-time
11 deputy sheriff.
12 § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
