AN ACT requiring settlement monies from the Navy Grumman groundwater
plume are used for the purchase of point-of-use water filtration
systems
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. Settlement monies received by the state to resolve liabil-
2 ity for natural resource damages related to the Navy Grumman groundwater
3 plume, that originated from the Northrop Grumman Bethpage facility and
4 the naval weapons industrial reserve plant sites, shall be used to
5 purchase point-of-use filtration systems capable of removing contam-
6 ination associated with the Navy Grumman groundwater plume for any
7 household located within the area where contaminants associated with the
8 Navy Grumman groundwater plume exceed groundwater standards, criteria
9 and guidance, as identified by the department of environmental conserva-
10 tion.
11 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
