COMMEMORATING the 125th Anniversary of the Greater
Utica Chamber of Commerce
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize the
achievements of those organizations which substantially contribute to
the economic vitality of their communities and the entire Empire State;
and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 125th Anniversary of the Greater Utica Chamber of
Commerce; and
WHEREAS, On September 2, 1896, the Utica Chamber of Commerce was
incorporated by the Secretary of the State in New York; and
WHEREAS, The Greater Utica Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit
organization comprised of business and business-oriented members
dedicated to developing a prosperous economic climate that will enhance
the commercial growth of the quality of life for all who reside in the
Greater Utica Area; and
WHEREAS, Over the past 125 years, the Greater Utica Chamber of
Commerce has adapted and transformed to maintain its business edge and
become known as one of the premier chambers in New York, with
recognition as one of four accredited chambers in the state; and
WHEREAS, While the name evolved over the years to accommodate a
growing regional membership, the mission and goals have remained the
same; the Greater Utica Chamber of Commerce recognizes that it is the
voice of a unified business community and that by becoming active in
several varied arenas, it can achieve the following goals and
objectives: to play a significant role in expanding existing businesses
and attracting new enterprises that will create jobs and result in
economic growth for the area; to campaign for quality regional
government, advocating the positive results obtained through the
consolidation of elected offices and public services; to promote the
area enthusiastically with innovation to the residents and nonresidents,
championing those assets that many locals take for granted and outsiders
may not realize; to foster partnerships and relationships with other
organizations or individuals who wish to meet these opportunities and
challenges within the Utica area; and to provide benefits that will
assist member businesses in becoming successful economic entities; and
WHEREAS, In 2018, The United States Chamber of Commerce awarded the
Greater Utica Chamber of Commerce with 3-Star Accreditation for its
sound policies, effective organizational procedures, and positive impact
on the community; the Chamber also received special recognition for its
facilities, Small Business Council, Catalyst Group, and Government
Affairs and Economic Development Council; and
WHEREAS, The Greater Utica Chamber of Commerce has been a true
ambassador of economic growth and an advocate for small businesses; it
has always taken a proactive approach to highlighting the wonderful
resources and services available to potential clients; and
WHEREAS, The entrepreneurial spirit drives initiatives such as small
business workshops, seminars, and events to improve the economy, better
the business climate, increase the number of jobs, and enhance the
quality of life for all that call Utica home; and
WHEREAS, The success of the Greater Utica Chamber of Commerce is in
direct correlation to the efforts of its members, whose involvement is,
and always has been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an
unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in
all endeavors on behalf of the organization and the community it serves;
and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body
acknowledges this exceptional organization and its contributions to the
local and State economies, fully confident it will continue to enjoy the
sparkling success it has experienced thus far; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 125th Anniversary of the Greater Utica Chamber of
Commerce; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Greater Utica Chamber of Commerce.
