Rich Iacona – Copiague Memorial Day
November 15, 2011

Assemblyman Bob Sweeney participated in the 60th annual Memorial Day parade in Copiague. At the request of VFW Warren Keer Post #9482 of Copiague, Assemblyman Sweeney made a presentation to Richard Iacona in recognition and appreciation for his service in the U.S. Air Force in WWII. Mr. Iacona was a Tech Sergeant mid-craft gunner, B-17-F Flight Engineer, flying missions out of England when his plane was shot down in 1944. He was interred as a POW for 10 months before his negotiated release and return to service. Mr. Iacona is also a member and past commander of the Copiague Post #9482. Congratulations and thanks to Mr. Iacona for his service to our country.
