Lynbrook High School Student Visits Albany

April 20, 2010
The League of Women Voters of New York State hosted their 10th Annual Students Inside Albany Conference on April 12th. The conference is an opportunity for high school students to expand their knowledge about participation in their government. Elected officials are asked to allow a student to “shadow” them for an afternoon in Albany while the Legislature is in full session and other policy making activities are taking place.

Assemblyman Harvey Weisenberg was happy to participate in the mentoring program by spending part of the afternoon with Molly Spilka, a Lynbrook High School senior who was chosen by the League of Women Voters to participate in this year’s conference. “It is inspiring to be able to spend part of my day with a young person from my Assembly District,” commented Weisenberg. “Molly is a bright young woman who plans to pursue a career in neurology, and it was a pleasure to share part of my day with her.”
