"I also want to highlight the 5,200 people here in New York who are Haitian nationals –  who came here, who we took under Temporary Protective Status (TPS). These individuals left horrors in Haiti and they came to America, specifically New York, to change a life, to recoup and to be a part of the American dream. I am not my parent's child nor am I my grandparent's child. I am the child of my ancestors. I am the child of the Haitian community," said Assemblywoman Michaelle Solages the sponsor of a resolution remembering the earthquake in 2010.  K727
