"The Executive proposal included a provision that would redirect 27 million dollars of federal Title 20 funding to be used for child care purposes. While that's a laudable goal, such redirection of funding would have caused the closure of 65 senior centers in New York City. Through the hard work of the Speaker, and the chairs of our Aging Committee and the Children and Families Committee, we were able to fight to keep that money going for senior center purposes in the city of New York, as well as do our best to increase child care funding," said Assemblyman Braunstein as he explained his vote on the state Budget (A-3003D)
