 "This is a special type of crime. This is a special circumstance. We're dealing with a special class of people and we are. So why should we have no statute of limitations for murder or for rape and not for this crime? Let's lift the statute of limitations for this crime as well, and let's do it retroactively, not just prospectively," said Assemblymember Simanowitz as he spoke about a bill that amends the Criminal Procedure Law and the Civil Practice Laws and Rules to extend the statutes of limitations in criminal and civil cases involving the sexual abuse of children.
