"I wanted to congratulate Mr. Kim for actually trying to … persuade us in a way we need to be persuaded, that there are ethnic groups that are left out. And by doing this and standing up for the Asian community, he's proving to us what we already know, that there are these communities that need help, and that if nobody stands up for them, they're not going to get them. Just like any other community, any other ethnic community in the United States of America or in the State of New York, we understand that. We should be commending him, not criticizing him for the work that he's doing for the Asian-American community in New York," Assemblymember Lentol said in Chamber while voting in the affirmative to amend an executive law for the way demographic information is collected by state agencies, boards and commissions.
