Millman Coordinates Free Mammography Event

Brooklyn – On Tuesday, November 10th, Assemblywoman Joan Millman and the Brooklyn YWCA coordinated free mammographies for local women. The mobile mammography van parked in front of Millman’s district office for seven hours, providing nearly 40 local women with free mammographies. To qualify, women simply needed to be 40 years of age and over, and not have received a mammogram in the past twelve months.

“I applaud the YWCA and the American Italian Cancer Foundation for making this event a huge success,” said Millman. “It can be difficult for women to get this procedure done on an annual basis, so by making it as convenient as possible, we hope to encourage more women to get mammograms.”

Women that were unable to make an appointment for this event can call Merle Steele at the Brooklyn YWCA at 718-875-1190 ext 239. The YWCA will be coordinating free mammogram events on November 23rd, December 6th and 19th at their location at 30 3rd Avenue in Brooklyn.
