
“The residents you will encounter think very highly of the men and women of the NYPD who serve their neighborhoods. Parents raise their children to treat officers with respect and to ask them for help if they need something” said Assemblywoman Millman. She noted that “many of the problems you will likely encounter will be quality of life issues as opposed to issues related to violent crime.”
The Assemblywoman joined Captain John Lewis in explaining the diversity and needs of the district. She described an experience she had during a recent ride-along with officers from the precinct. They stopped to assist a woman change a flat tire. “It was something they were not required to do, but they did it anyway. Acts like this are greatly appreciated by members of the community and highlight the commitment of the officers at the 76th precinct to the quality of life of the residents.”
