Brooklyn, NY – Assemblywoman Joan L. Millman was appointed to the Chair of the Standing Committee on Aging by Speaker Sheldon Silver. The Committee is responsible for analyzing all issues ranging from transportation assistance, long-term care, healthcare, prescription drug coverage and enhancing day-to-day life for seniors by helping them to continue to live in our communities - aging in place.
Assemblywoman Millman stated “As many more of our residents reach their senior years, state agencies will have to restructure to accommodate their special needs. I look forward to Chairing the Committee on Aging to further explore how New York State government can best prepare for the rapidly aging population.” Millman went further on to state that, “the announcement of her appointment arrived just in time for her Annual Senior Resource Event on Friday, June 24, at St. Francis College in Brooklyn Heights. Over 400 seniors and more than 50 government agencies and organizations attend this important event.”
Assemblywoman Millman looks forward to working with senior centers, senior groups and state agencies overseeing aging programs that ensure the Assembly’s commitment to the health and welfare of older New Yorkers remain strong.
