Dear Neighbor,
I am writing to inform you that the twenty New York City firehouses that were slated to be closed have been saved. The final version of the city’s 2012 budget includes funding to keep all of the firehouses open including Engine Company 205 in Brooklyn Heights.
These firehouses were saved because of the determination of community activists such as yourself who came forward to stand with me and rally against these closures. I spoke at two rallies at Engine Company 205 and as I stated, I was ready to be arrested once again to save our firehouses from being closed. Thanks also to all of the elected officials who supported our fight.
Thank you for writing to me to express your concerns and please do not hesitate to contact me again.
Sincerely,
Joan L. Millman
